Nothing but Real face the beast within in “Creatures”

Hay un espejo que se agrieta y, detrás, el sueño de la infancia deja pasar la sombra. Así arranca «Creatures», el nuevo single y videoclip de Nothing but Real, la banda parisina de rock híbrido y cinematográfico, disponible desde el 18 de septiembre.

La canción habla de lo que escondemos: esa parte oscura que aprendemos a domar al hacernos adultos y que guardamos debajo de vidas corrientes. Avanza en siete movimientos en tres minutos y medio: guitarras saturadas que suben la tensión, una batería que golpea como un corazón desbocado y, en el centro, una cancioncilla infantil grabada con una grabadora por los hijos de amigos de la banda, entre ellos una niña en España. Un homenaje a la luz de la infancia, a lo que se evapora al crecer.

«Creatures» es también la puerta de entrada a su universo: detrás de las máscaras hay cuatro personajes, el Oráculo a la voz y tres Centinelas, guiados por Sakar, un ser venido de otro lugar que nos observa como a criaturas. Es el primer fragmento de un disco en preparación.

Se grabó en L’Orangerie Studio en 2024 con Clément Baysse, y las voces y la posproducción llegaron en 2025 de la mano de Bertrand Poncet (Alias Production, LANDMVRKS, Chunk! No Captain Chunk!) y Tom Kran (Soundload Production). El videoclip lo firma L’Innombrable (Mathias Auster).

There is a mirror that cracks, and behind it the childhood dream lets the darkness in. That is how «Creatures» begins, the new single and music video from Nothing but Real, the Paris-based hybrid, cinematic rock band, out since September 18.

The song is about what we hide: the darker side we learn to tame as we grow up and tuck away beneath ordinary lives. It unfolds in seven movements over three and a half minutes: saturated guitars building tension, drums beating like a racing heart and, at its core, a children’s refrain recorded on a voice recorder by friends’ children, including a little girl in Spain. A tribute to the light of childhood, to what fades as we grow older.

«Creatures» is also a way into the band’s universe: behind the masks are four characters, the Oracle on vocals and three Sentinels, guided by Sakar, a being from elsewhere who watches us like creatures. It is the first piece of an album in the works.

It was recorded at L’Orangerie Studio in 2024 with Clément Baysse, with vocals and post-production in 2025 by Bertrand Poncet (Alias Production, LANDMVRKS, Chunk! No Captain Chunk!) and Tom Kran (Soundload Production). The video was directed by L’Innombrable (Mathias Auster).
