Jesse Creatchman hops aboard the “Hellbound Special” with “She Drives Me”

Jesse Creatchman, cantautor de Montreal, se sube a un tren con destino al infierno. «Hellbound Special», su nuevo disco, salió el 9 de octubre con su sello independiente, Hot Soupe: diez canciones y 45 minutos que juntan country outlaw, americana, blues y rock and roll sin quedarse quietos en ningún carril.

Lo ha producido y mezclado Tom Shemerr, de The Damn Truth, y lo ha masterizado su compañero de banda Dave Traina. Son canciones de personajes: tontos, amantes, buscavidas, perros de caza, diablos y gente que toma decisiones más que discutibles. «Siempre me han atraído las canciones que cuentan historias», explica Jesse, que se mueve con gusto por tradiciones mucho más viejas que él para encontrar su propio camino dentro de ellas.

«She Drives Me», la que suena en nuestra casa, pertenece al lado más country y narrativo del disco. Alrededor hay rock and roll fanfarrón en «Sex and Money» (el primer single), mitología blues en el tema que da título al álbum y soul a fuego lento en «Last Dance», con solo de saxo de Kaven Jalbert. Completan la banda Steve Creep a la batería, Erik Fines a las guitarras, PY Letellier al bajo y Nicolas Riverin a la trompeta.

Montreal singer-songwriter Jesse Creatchman is boarding a train bound for hell. «Hellbound Special», his new album, came out on October 9th on his independent label, Hot Soupe: ten songs and 45 minutes bringing together outlaw country, Americana, blues and rock and roll without settling into a single lane.

It was produced and mixed by Tom Shemerr of The Damn Truth and mastered by his bandmate Dave Traina. These are character songs: fools, lovers, hustlers, hound dogs, devils and people making questionable decisions. «I’ve always been drawn to songs that tell stories,» says Jesse, who happily walks through traditions far older than him to find his own way inside them.

«She Drives Me», the track playing on our station, belongs to the record’s country storytelling side. Around it there’s the swaggering rock and roll of «Sex and Money» (the first single), blues mythology on the title track and slow-burning soul on «Last Dance», with a saxophone solo by Kaven Jalbert. The band is completed by Steve Creep on drums, Erik Fines on guitars, PY Letellier on bass and Nicolas Riverin on trumpet.
