Eve Gallagher & Uli Heinzler prove it’s “Never Too Late” for the blues

🇬🇧 English version

Eve Gallagher and Uli Heinzler, the creative core of the Swiss-based Eve Gallagher Band, released «Never Too Late» on September 29: a self-produced blues and soul album that the Swiss Blues Society has just named Best Self-Produced Blues CD 2026.

Many will remember Eve Gallagher from her ’90s dance hits such as «You Can Have It All», produced by Boy George. But the blues has always been her true home: with their previous album, «Roots», the band won the 2025 Swiss Blues Challenge, and now they dig even deeper into the roots of African American music.

At its heart is Gallagher’s warm, weathered voice, shaped by soul and gospel. Producer and bassist Uli Heinzler holds the record together on upright bass alongside Simply Red drummer Roman Roth. And the guest list is impressive: Allman Brothers Band alumnus Jack Pearson; Jean-Pierre von Dach on guitar across most of the album; jazz guitarist Paulo Morello on the closer; and Grammy winner Ondřej Pivec, known for his work with Gregory Porter, on Hammond organ.

Two songs from the album are already on our radio: «Fast Lane», which moves between grit and soul, and their stripped-down take on «God Bless the Child», a heartfelt bow to Billie Holiday.

Both are in rotation on The Beerman Club Radio, in our October playlist and in the Song of the Month vote. It’s never too late for good blues.
